Virginia Tech

ResearchChannel is part of Virginia Tech’s outreach effort.

“ResearchChannel gives us a chance to showcase some of the great work our researchers do,” said Paul Lancaster, Broadcast Media Coordinator at Virginia Tech. “We want people to know how we’re inventing the future here, and ResearchChannel is a great opportunity to get the word out.”

George Mason University

George Mason University relies on ResearchChannel to share the exceptional work of its faculty with the world.

“The ResearchChannel showcases the work of our talented and diverse research faculty,” said Sharon Pitt, Executive Director of the Division of Instructional Technology at GMU. “Programs that we produce, such as ‘The Vision Series,’ communicate the innovative research taking place across our campuses. The series shares the creative work of practitioners at the frontiers of creativity, across a spectrum of thought, inspiring discussion throughout our student body, among faculty and staff, our community and, thanks to the ResearchChannel, the world.” Via significant fiscal force, the United States Congress is increasingly demanding that grant institutions such as the National Science Foundation require grantees to communicate research results broadly. Recently George Mason has focused its efforts to address the need for public communication associated with research.

“The ResearchChannel is a key resource to George Mason as we try to meet the criteria to communicate with the public about research.” Pitt added. “We are taking advantage of all the broadcast options that the ResearchChannel offers.”

Tulane University knows it’s reaching a wider audience through the ResearchChannel. “Through ResearchChannel, Tulane can share its research and programming with a much wider audience than ever before” said William Hydrick, director of media services at Tulane’s Freeman School of Business.

Programs from Tulane like the 2008 Burkenroad Symposium on Business and Society offer important information with candor and thoroughness. “Programs like the Burkenroad Symposium offer a scholarly perspective on topics of great interest to the public at large,” explained Hydrick.
