Amy Philipson is executive director of Streaming Media Video and TV Technologies. She is responsible for the UW’s extensive, award-winning television, video production and major advanced multimedia efforts. Amy is founder and now executive director of the national ResearchChannel consortium. Besides providing on-demand programming and distribution of broadcast TV materials via the Internet, as of January 2000 ResearchChannel has a full-time national channel on Echostar’s consumer-oriented Dish500 Direct Broadcast Satellite system, which reaches millions of people across the country.

Phillippa Kassover is Senior Director of Development and External Relations. A fundraiser and public relations professional for more than 20 years, Phillippa is the newest member of the ResearchChannel leadership team. She brings many years of experience in higher education, building relationships and raising funds for a variety of academic programs and projects in science and technology. Jim DeRoest directs a research, development and support team focusing on the cyberinfrastructure surrounding multimedia capture, digitization, management and delivery for ResearchChannel, UWTV, KEXP radio and the University of Washington campus. Jim is also involved in audio/video middleware research, data and computational grid forums and international collaboration and outreach efforts with PRAGMA (Pacific Rim Applications and Grid Middleware Assembly), CANS (Chinese American Networking Symposium) and WUN (Worldwide Universities Network).

Michael Wellings is director of Engineering for the ResearchChannel consortium and the University of Washington which, in addition to providing programming via the Internet, supports a 24/7 broadcast stream nationwide. Mike directly contributes to ResearchChannel's goals of content creation and manipulation processes to test materials for analog and digital broadcast and on-demand multimedia offerings, as well as creating experiments with new methods of distribution and interaction on a global basis. Michael pioneered efforts in MPEG2 high-quality on-demand video distribution and was the chief broadcast architect for high-definition television over IP networks with streams ranging up to 200Mbps.

Timothy J. Lorang is director of Membership and Production for ResearchChannel. Timothy is an accredited member of the Communication Media Management Association and has been working in television production for more than 28 years.

Sephora DeRoest is program manager for ResearchChannel. Sephora manages all aspects of programming for ResearchChannel, including linear scheduling and video-on-demand selections. She also handles administration of contracts, retransmission requests and management of participant relations. Sephora has been with ResearchChannel since 2000.
