The National Association of Broadcaster (NAB) 2005 annual meeting is the world's largest electronic media show.

ResearchChannel, an industry leader in Internet, on-demand and interactive distribution of compressed and uncompressed High Definition video, will partner with Microsoft Corporation and Tarari, Inc. to demonstrate a live, High Definition video stream between an HD camera supplying video to a Windows Media Encoder and a computer running Windows Media Player. This process will show Windows Media 9 HD encoding in real-time.

The demonstration will take place in the Microsoft Booth at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show floor in Las Vegas, Nev. The live event, held during the week of April 16, 2005, will be captured with a 720p HD camera suplying SMPTE 292M HD video to an Intel dual processor PCI-Express computer, and encoded in Windows Media 9 720p HD in real-time using Tarari's High Performance Computing Processor. The encoded video will be transported at 8 mbps over a local IP network to the WindowsXP client machine in the booth at NAB where it will be decoded and displayed. This development demonstrates the future possibility of a range of live, interactive applications in telemedicine, remote sensing instrumentation and digital cinema over commercial broadband networks. Recent changes in codec and high performance computational acceleration technology will be explored, making this interactive demonstration a must see for anyone involved in broadband networking, collaborations, interactive technologies, digital media and the next generation of communication tools.
