ResearchChannel funds new programs through production awards

SEATTLE — ResearchChannel awarded matching funds to five institutions today as part of its second Matching Funds Production Awards Program. The program encourages the creation of new video content that furthers public awareness of research addressing important and wide-ranging issues.
“This year brought some outstanding proposals,” said Amy Philipson, ResearchChannel executive director. “The five winning entries will present exciting and intriguing new research sure to catch our viewers’ attention.”
This year’s winning applicants are:

  • “Researching Maryland” from Sharon Merkel, University of Maryland
  • “The Psychology of the Political Left and Right” from Leonard L. Martin, University of Georgia
  • “Data Into Dance” from Maida Withers, The George Washington University
  • “Smoking and Tobacco Policy Research” from Stephen Bailey, University of Kentucky
  • “Purple Fridays and Sour Fives: Welcome to the World of Synesthesia” from Jonathan Fowler, Montana State University

ResearchChannel’s Matching Funds Production Awards Program enables accredited universities and nonprofit research institutions to share their research using video production, especially those that would not have sufficient funds to do so otherwise. Through ResearchChannel’s extensive distribution network, video content providers are able to reach millions of people around the world through our on-air, online and on-demand outlets, and now through iTunes U and YouTube. Each winning applicant was awarded between $3,000 and $6,000.

ResearchChannel congratulates all recipients of its production awards, and thanks all who participated.

Recipients of the previous year’s Matching Funds Production Awards Program were recently posted on ResearchChannel.org:
