Northwest Gigapop (PNWGP)
The Pacific Northwest Gigapop (PNWGP) develops
and provides access to leading-edge, state-of-the-art networking
infrastructures and services in support of development, research
and education organizations and networks throughout the Pacific
Rim. A Seattle-based entity, PNWGP brings significant opportunity
and advantages to the Puget Sound and the whole Pacific Northwest.
By connecting to PNWGP, organizations and developers may access
Next Generation Internet services and technologies including National
LambdaRail (NLR), Pacific Wave (international peering and optical
exchange facility), and Internet2. Examples of some of the areas
supported by the PNWGP include high-definition IP broadcasting and
video conferencing, medical applications, and many areas of scientific
research, such as biotechnology, medical sciences, geology, high-energy
physics, astronomy and oceanography.
PNWGP is well-established within the global research and education
community and, to the benefit of its participants, maintains cooperative
ties and partnerships with an expanding list of like-minded organizations
including numerous groups in the United States, Canada, Japan, Taiwan,
Singapore, Korea, Australia, and the Netherlands.
The Pacific Northwest Gigapop, established in 1998, is a non-profit
based in Seattle, Washington.
