The University of Maryland has emerged over the past few years

News & World Report, the University utilizes its location seven
miles from the nation’s capital to interact closely with many
federal agencies on research. It is home to leading research programs
with agencies like the National Institutes of Health, the National
Security Agency, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. With over 70 academic programs ranked
in the top 25 nationally, the campus is home to two Nobel Prize
winners, six Pulitzer Prize winners as well as world-renowned scientists,
artists and educators. With over $352 million in direct research
funding, and the recent creation of a 128-acre research park, we
attract new research activities and businesses to the area every
day. By virtually every measure, the University of Maryland has
