Description: We find ourselves at a pivotal moment in the history of humankind. Our body parts wear out as we age into our seventies and beyond. Now, as humankind enters a new millennium, the potential to substantially alter this scenario beckons. Tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and system biology may allow us to continuously replace tissues and organs. This talk discusses the potential of such tissue and organ replacement, summarizes current progress, addresses the industry needed to make this a reality and explores ethical issues such as living cosmetic enhancements that might be more 'Star Wars' than modern human.
