Description: Researchers from Intel, UW, UCSD, and elsewhere have recently created an initiative to encourage the broad adoption of location-enhanced web services. The consensus is that to be widely adopted, location-aware computing must be as effortless, familiar, and rewarding as web search tools like Google. Therefore, the research collaboration is producing open software that enables private, course grain, indoor and outdoor positioning on cellular mobile computers with no additional hardware.
