Description: Texture synthesis has been widely recognized as an important research topic, particularly with new techniques such as the feature-based synthesis, which produces superior results on aperiodic structural textures. In this interactive discussion, Yizhou Yu, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, presents a number of graphics and vision-related projects that cover 2D texture synthesis, 3D texture reconstruction, tensor-based BTF compression, static surface texture synthesis and dynamic surface flow simulation.
