The late Armstead Robinson's (1945-1995) final work, 'Bitter Fruits of Bondage' highlights the unraveling of the Confederacy as a process of social change. Mr. Robinson, was the founding director of the Carter G. Woodson Institute for Afro-American & African Studies at the University of Virginia, and was known for his studies regarding the Civil War. His wife, Mildred Robinson, Henry L. & Grace Doherty Charitable Foundation Professor of Law at the University, presents remarks about her husband's life and the piece that became his last book.
