Been hooked by phishing, pharmed out, snuck up on by spyware? Or have you been lucky enough to dodge these troubles? MAKE A VIDEO OR POSTER to pass on your computer security wisdom to fellow college students.
The EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force, in cooperation with the ResearchChannel and sponsored by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and CyberWATCH, is seeking creative and effective videos or posters on computer security to be part of a national campaign to increase computer security at colleges and universities.
If your video or poster is one of the top twelve selected, you’ll get exposure for your work on the Security Task Force’s Web site (www.educause.edu/security) from media announcements and as part of campus security awareness campaigns across the country. And that’s not all—winners receive cash prizes:
Gold: $1,000 |
Silver: $800 |
Bronze: $400 |
- Four submission options: Your video can take the form of a training or instruction video or a public service announcement (PSA). Posters may be submitted separately or with a video for a “combined entry.”
- Keep training videos to two minutes or less, PSAs to exactly 30 seconds.
- Artists must convert their poster artwork to an electronic format (.jpg or .pdf). The digital resolution of each entry must be sufficient to be printed at a maximum of 24 inches by 36 inches without print scaling (minimum of 300 dpi). Maximum file size for submission is 10MB. Artists must complete the Program Release and Clearance Authorization form and submit their electronic file here after January 1, 2009.
- The video or poster should address computing security problems and effective ways of handling them.
- Send in your entry by April 30, 2009. An online submission form will be available here beginning in January, 2009.
- Get all the specifics you need—including video and poster formats, topic ideas, and submission address—by contacting Security Task Force staff at security-video@educause.edu or by visiting
